Rev. Richard Nalepa, CP
50th Jubilee

Father Richard, celebrating his 50th Jubilee of Ordination, has served many ministries in his Province. He served as vice-rector/administrator for 22 years in Scranton, Pa.; Baltimore, Md.; Jamaica, N.Y., and currently here in Pittsburgh, Pa.

His vocation has been to share the meaning of Christ’s Passion with the people he meets, reminding them of Jesus’ love and mercy reaching out to them in their everyday lives.

Father Richard was associate editor at The SIGN Magazine in the 1970s and assisted with St. Ann’s TV Mass in Scranton in the 1990s. At the Jamaica Monastery, he helped in the development of the healthcare facility for the aging and infirm Passionists.

Born in Pittsburgh, he was educated for 12 years by the Franciscan Sisters of Millvale at St. George Parish/School in the city’s Allentown neighborhood. He entered Holy Cross Seminary in Dunkirk, N.Y., in 1959 and professed vows in 1963. He was ordained to the priesthood at St. Michael’s Passionist Monastery in Union City, N.J., by Bishop Quentin Orwell, CP.

Gentle, patient and organized, Father Richard finds interest in the tech world, photography and mystery novels.
