Sister Mary Jean DiMatteo, HM
50th Jubilee

Sister Mary Jean “Sr. Midge” DiMatteo celebrates her 50th jubilee this year with a most grateful heart. She entered the HM Community from St. Patrick Parish in Hubbard, Ohio, in 1959 then left after 10 years. Her 50 years in religious life include 27 years with the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. In 2008 she returned to the HM Community.  She says that she experienced the loving call of God and the love of both communities throughout her journey.

Her vocation was influenced by an HM Sister at her home parish whom she watched play baseball with the boys. This made her realize that maybe she, too, could become a sister! Inquisitive, loyal and humorous, she enjoys crossword puzzles, word games, and crocheting with other sisters in the Prayer Shawls Etc. ministry.

She has ministered both in health care and in education including teaching reading, office support and office manager. Prior to retiring to Villa Maria Community Center in 2018, she was office manager and receptionist at Emmanuel Community Care Center in Girard, Ohio.
