Sister Janet Mock, CSJ
The Association of Pittsburgh Priests Continues it 2024 Fall Speakers Series virtually and in person on Thursday, November 7, at 7 p.m. with Sister Janet Mock, CSJ, presenting on Finding God in Everyday Life & Responding. She will speak at Mary, Queen of Peace Parish Hall, 81 S. 13th Street on Pittsburgh’s South Side. The event will also be virtual through Zoom.
Sister Janet will explore the difficulties of living today in hope rather than cynicism or negative disillusionment — in the face of overwhelming challenges personally, in the Catholic Church, and in the nation. She will reflect on Pope Francis’ dynamic of holding the polarities until the Holy Spirit envelopes them with fresh possibilities. She will explore the call to stand in the tragic gap of the world, helping hope to emerge; helping community to grow; becoming and being the beloved community wherever we are: listening to the Voice of God incarnated in our midst.
Sister is the former executive secretary of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious. Now in ‘retirement,’ she continues to build the Church through retreat work, public speaking, and spiritual direction.
This in-person and virtual event is open and free to interested participants. All are asked to register at www.associationofpittsburghpriests.com. The recording of the event will be available a week following the event at the same website. For more information, contact Father John Oesterle at 412-232-7512 or johnoesterle2@gmail.com. Freewill offerings can be made on the website.
The Association of Pittsburgh Priests is an organization of ordained and non-ordained women and men who act on our baptismal call to be priests and prophets. Its mission, rooted in the Gospel and the Spirit of Vatican II, is to carry out a ministry of justice and renewal in ourselves, the Church and the world.
