The PATH to Justice Committee of the Catholic Sisters Leadership Council is sponsoring “The Many Faces of Human Trafficking” on Thursday, January 14 at 6:00 PM atKearns Spirituality Center in Allison Park, PA. The program shares the story of four victims who were trafficked in the United States. A reception will follow and offer attendees the opportunity to connect with Sisters and others working to end human trafficking. The program and reception are free to attend. January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month. An estimated over 20 million people in worldwide are victims of human trafficking. Between 14,500 and 17,500 women, children and men are trafficked in the United States each year, according to the U.S. Department of State. Victims are usually trafficked into the country from Asia, Central and South America and Eastern Europe, but United States citizens are also victims.
“The Many Faces of Human Trafficking” is presented by the PATH to Justice Committee of the Catholic Sisters Leadership Council as part of their outreach to create awareness and address the global injustice of human trafficking. Their various efforts include working with local hotel workers and law enforcement to educate them on how to recognize and assist human trafficking victims, as well as billboards, radio spots, awareness programs and other outreach.
