GROWTH AT NAZARETH PREP

Congratulations to Nazareth Prep in Pittsburgh on receiving a $1 million grant to fund a new Science and Activities Building. Nazareth Prep is a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth.
The Pennsylvania Office of the Budget recently awarded Nazareth Prep this grant through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP), grant program that funds projects with cultural, civic, historical, regional, or multi-jurisdictional impact in Pennsylvania.
The school, whose students hail largely from underrepresented communities, is a progressive, independent Catholic high school focused on college and career readiness. The school partners with families and uses evidence-based practices to equip each student for success. Through a real-world rigorous yet personalized college preparatory program and unique internship program, Nazareth Prep students build skills that will serve them throughout their lives.
“Every day I am inspired by our students. Their passion for learning and willingness to take on new challenges gives me great hope for the future of our community. Our goal is to support their enthusiasm by giving them the facilities and opportunities they need to continue to learn and grow,” says Sr. Linda Yankoski, CSFN, President and CEO of Holy Family Institute, which is the parent organization of Nazareth Prep. She adds, “We’re very pleased to receive, through this grant, the state’s recognition and support of our work to provide an equitable high school experience to Pittsburgh students.”
The new Science and Activities building will be used to expand educational partnerships, develop new relationships with community groups, and provide new educational opportunities not only for Nazareth Prep students, but also for other teens in the Pittsburgh area. Among the planned activities for the building are expanded summer camp programming and a means to provide athletic and academic enrichment for students of all backgrounds.
